| PERFECT WILD RICE
1. Rinse all Wild Rice thoroughly. This
may be done by placing measured Wild Rice in sauce pan,
filling pan with water, swirling Wild Rice around and
pouring off the water. The Wild Rice will stay in the bottom
of the pan. Repeat 2-3 times.
2. Add measured water or broth -- use 3
cups liquid to 1 cup dry Wild Rice.
3. Boil gently in covered pan
approximately 30 minutes until almost all liquid is
absorbed. Texture and consistancy is a matter of personal
preference. We prefer a grain that has split open but is
still chewy.
DO NOT OVERCOOK to avoid
mushiness and loss of nutrients.
TO MICROWAVE WILD RICE:
1. Place 1 cup Wild Rice in a 3 quart
covered casserole. Add 4 cups water and 1 tsp. salt.
Microwave on high for 6 minutes, then reduce to low for 30
minutes. Leave Wild Rice undisturbed in oven for another
10-15 minutes.
STORAGE
Cooked Wild Rice can be refrigerated for
a week or frozen for several weeks without loss of
flavor.
